We've moved!!

Everyone, we're moving from the My-Expressions website to our very own domain: http://www.doreneandterri.com. Please add a new bookmark to your internet browser and follow us to our new home!

This change came about as a result of buying a new Apple laptop computer. When we bought the laptop, we also bought storage space on Apple's website in the form of a .Mac account. So instead of having to 'rent' space each month on Expressions, we get about 10 times the space for a lot less money.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who have faithfully visited our blog here, and we sure hope you'll follow us to our new home! Don't forget! http://www.doreneandterri.com!!! We'll leave the light on for you ;-)

We have driven past cows on the way to work and since Heidi loves cows, we have been trying to get some good pictures of the newborn calves and their mamas. Sunday, we actually spent about 2 hours driving around Boulder, Louisville, etc. to try and get some closeups. Our luck would have it that we couldn't get a good shot from 100 yards away. We gave up trying and headed back home. We still didn't get a picture of the calves, but we managed to find these willing participants only about 1.5 miles from home (go figure).

We still would like to get pictures of the calves, since they are SO cute when they are young...in about a year, they will be this size.

Hope you're having a great week so far.

This weekend I played with a photography technique called 'light painting'. Essentially it involves taking a long exposure (25 seconds in this shot) in a pitch black room. During the exposure, I selectively 'painted' the apple with a flashlight wrapped in red cellophane candy wrappers (high tech, I know) by turning the flashlight on and off every few seconds and highlighting a different part of the apple each time. Could all of this be done in Photoshop? Probably. But would I have a good excuse for eating a bag of candy if I was using Photoshop? I rest my case.

Thanks for the votes yesterday...although I personally liked the 'blue' tint, the other one won...thanks for trying Cheryl.

When I first saw this picture, I thought about that 70's tv show 'Fantasy Island'..where Tattoo would shout 'da plane, da plane' and the show would start.

If you can imagine, just for a moment, that today's picture was taken on exactly the same afternoon walk. You can see just how interesting Terri was able to make the tree shot. She's having fun learning HOW to use her camera settings, and we actually get some interesting pictures this way.

It was a gorgeous 66 yesterday but cold weather is coming back tomorrow, with a possibility of light snow again...egads, is it Spring yet?!

Hope you have some fun things planned for the weekend...I'm not sure what we will get to do...all the good weather was DURING the week while we were slaving away inside...sometimes, life is NOT fair.

Here is tree number 2. She added a little color and took out the blue in photoshop elements. It's hard to believe that the pictures were taken in the afternoon, but they were.

So, which one do you prefer?

Terri took this picture while she was hiking the other day...the tree was actually a spring photograph in the trail book, only, she didn't notice it until she got home later that it was the exact same tree as in the book. I can't remember what she said she did to her camera settings but I like the effect. Tomorrow I will post how she enhanced it in photoshop...you decide which you like best.

Terri managed to get out this past weekend to take a few pictures. The weather fluctuated between the 50's and the teens. It's strange I tell you. The geese must be totally confused. Even when we had so much snow, they were hanging around the fields and flying overhead. This past weekend, they were EVERYWHERE...she has always liked seeing the geese so she captured this picture when the sky seemed to be clear and they were flying in formation.

I managed to finally get to the dentist, only to find out that the reason my teeth are killing me is because I am grinding them to oblivion. The dentist thinks I can control it with a mouth guard..so I'll look like a football player every night while I sleep I guess..this will not bode well for my snoring either since I was told I can't sleep on my stomach or my side anymore...there goes the peace and tranquility of sleep.

Hope you all had a great long weekend!

When Sammie's mom was little, she loved her doll babies. Seems like Sammie does too...I would have to say, hands down, Sammie is MUCH cuter than her doll. The only thing her baby doll has going for her is more hair.

This has been THE LONGEST week ever..since Monday, I kept thinking it had to be Thursday (or maybe that was hoping)...I'm super glad it's Friday however. Hope everyone has some great plans for the long weekend...we haven't finalized anything yet.

The weather today is supposed to be in the high 40's..since it's been SO cold and snowy again this week, it will be a welcome change..and it'll give the rest of our snow pack a chance to melt.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

This is a picture from our archives...I am continually amazed how things that were built in the late 1800's to early 1900's seem to last forever..can you imagine having to stack all these rocks one by one? Nowadays, houses are built in a matter of months..and in some cases, a week (look at Extreme Home Makeover).

Nothing like sweat equity.

Hope you're snuggled down if you're on the east coast and for all others, hope your week is going well.

BTW, Cheryl..you can send us some vegetable soup, just ship it with a little dry ice LOL
